Sofia Open Facts
The Sofia Open is as new an event as they come. The first edition took place in 2016. Robert Bautista Agut won this inaugural event with a straight sets victory over Viktor Troicki.
Okay, so maybe the above fact isn’t 100% true. 1980–81 played host to a tournament by the same name. The earlier Sofia Open was a Grand Prix tournament event played on indoor carpet courts. It is technically a separate event to the modern version.
The Sofia Open takes place at Arena Armeec. This is an multi-purpose indoor arena capable of hosting a number of different sporting events. It has the capacity to hold over 12,000 people.
The tournament is an ATP 250 event, meaning that the winner will walk away with 250 ranking points. The total prize money up for grabs in the event is €463,520.
